City of Edinburgh Council : The City of Edinburgh Council is responsible for providing key public services in Scotland?s capital city to over 440,000 citizens and the many million visitors the city attracts each year. With around 20,000 employees, we are the second largest employer in the city.

Clackmannanshire Council : Clackmannanshire Council are proud to represent an area set in the heart of Scotland. The purpose of the Council is to improve the quality of life in Clackmannanshire.

Dumfries and Galloway Council : Dumfries and Galloway Council area is the third largest geographically in Scotland and covers 2,380 square miles with 239 miles of coastline. Our location at the crossroads between Scotland, England and Northern Ireland means we have a unique importance in trade and cultural exchange.
East Lothian Council : East Lothian covers an area of approximately 270 square miles and has 43 miles of coastline. It has a population of 89,000. One of the most picturesque areas of Scotland, East Lothian stretches from the eastern edge of Edinburgh to the waters of the North Sea. Rich in history, the past is kept alive with rugged castles, historic market towns and the remains of ancient settlements.
East Ayrshire Council : With 32 elected members and approximately 6,000 employees serving 123,820 residents, East Ayrshire Council has earned a reputation for providing services effectively and at a consistently high level.
East Dunbartonshire Council : Situated just North of Glasgow, East Dunbartonshire covers an area of some 20,172 hectares (77 square miles) and has easy access to major motorways. Around 110,000 people live within the area, which is bounded to the north by the Campsie Hills. Local communities include Bearsden, Bishopbriggs, Kirkintilloch, Lennoxtown, Lenzie, Milngavie, Milton of Campsie, Torrance and Twechar.
East Renfrewshire Council : East Renfrewshre Council provides services for 89,000 residents living to the south of Glasgow. The council is committed to making a difference to the quality of life throuout its area.
Falkirk Council : The Falkirk Area occupies a central position in Scotland, on the key north-south and east-west motorway and rail routes and within easy reach of Edinburgh and Glasgow airports. No part of Scotland is better situated both for access from England and for access to other parts of Scotland. Recently it has become renowned as the location for Scotland?s first structural icon of the 21st century, The Falkirk Wheel.
Glasgow City Council : Glasgow is Scotland's biggest city, with a population of almost 612,000. Glasgow is the best UK shopping centre outside London and has excellent business, cultural, sport and tourist facilities. That's why the City was European City of Culture 1990 and in 1999 UK City of Architecture and Design.
Highland Council - Comhairle na Gaidhealtachd : The Highland Council is the democratic voice for one of the most beautiful and sparsely populated areas of Europe, extending to 10,000 square miles. The Council provides a wide range of essential services to 208,000 people living in the Highlands.
Inverclyde Council : Inverclyde is situated around the southern edge of the mouth of the River Clyde. The long association with unparalleled shipbuilding and traditional engineering achievements has now all but passed. It has not, however, rested on its laurels and is now starting to enjoy the benefits of a resurgence in diverse trade and industry.
Midlothian Council : Midlothian is located south of Edinburgh centred on the main towns of Penicuik and Dalkeith. One of the smallest local authority areas, it has emerged as a World centre for the developing Biotechnology industry.
Moray Council : Rich lowland farming, fishing villages, mountains, moors and lochs are the essence of Moray. The area encompasses some of Britain's most remote and magnificent countryside, with 70% being open countryside and the further 25% being made up to woodlands. Most people live in the 5 main towns of Elgin, Buckie, Forres, Keith and Lossiemouth. There is a clear difference between the populated, rich agricultural land in the Laich of Moray along the northern coast and the sparsely populated upland areas to the south. The area to the south around Tomintoul will form part of the Cairngorms National Park.
North Ayrshire Council : North Ayrshire is situated on Scotland's scenic south west coast and within easy reach of Glasgow. North Ayrshire Council prides themselves in their partnership approach to developing communities, improving job opportunities, promoting tourism and recreation, enhancing training and education and, most importantly, caring for the people who live and work here.
North Lanarkshire Council : North Lanarkshire is the fourth largest Scottish local authority, located in west central Scotland, between Edinburgh and Glasgow. It covers an area of 47,358 and serves a population of 328,000 people.
Orkney Council : Despite its geographical remoteness, Orkney is a thriving and diverse community. At the heart of that community is Orkney Islands Council which endeavours to ensure its citizens have access to as wide a range of high quality services as people living on mainland Scotland.
Perth and Kinross Council : Located in the heart of Scotland, Perth and Kinross serves as the crossroads of the country and gateway to the Highlands. Covering over 5,300 square kilometres, Perth and Kinross is a large and varied area that serves a growing population of more than 134,000 people. Only an hour from Edinburgh and 75 minutes from Glasgow, the area?s principal city, Perth, is at the hub of both Scotland?s motorway and rail networks. 90% of Scotland?s inhabitants live within 90 minutes of Perth. Other main towns in the area include Aberfeldy, Auchterarder, Blairgowrie, Crieff , Kinross and Pitlochry. Each of these beautiful but very different towns, has something to offer for every visitor, including, excellent shopping, fine dining, entertainment and cultural experiences together with a wide range of leisure pursuits. The local economy continues to grow and Perth and Kinross has recently been declared as one of the most profitable places to do business in Scotland.
Renfrewshire Council : Renfrewshire Council provides an extensive range of services in an area covering 26,139 hectares in the west of Scotland. Renfrewshire is made up of both urban and rural landscapes with attractive historic towns and conservation villages.
Shetland Council : Shetland is located in the North Atlantic, strategically placed in relation to fertile fishing grounds and major oil reserves. It consists of a group of 100 islands, some 567 square miles in area with approximately 900 miles of coastline and a population of 23,000. It is as close to Norway as it is to Aberdeen.
South Ayrshire Council : South Ayrshire Council has 30 Councillors and is a Labour administration. The leader is Councillor Andrew Hill and the Provost is Councillor Elizabeth Foulkes. South Ayrshire covers 422 square miles on the south-west of Scotland. The area extends from Troon in the North to Ballantrae in the south and includes the towns of Ayr, Prestwick, Maybole and Girvan. The council has its administrative centre in Ayr.
Scottish Borders Council : Scottish Borders Council is responsible for the provision of all local government services to over 106,000 people who live in an area of approx. 1,800 square miles of south-east Scotland. The area is one of outstanding scenic beauty and is internationally recognised as Scotland's leading short break destination. The main industries are agriculture, electronics, fishing, forestry, textiles and tourism.
South Lanarkshire Council : South Lanarkshire spans through central and southern Scotland, covering the area from the Cathkin Braes to the Pentlands and down through the Southern Uplands. Ideally located with excellent communication links to the whole of the United Kingdom and beyond, South Lanarkshire has been out performing national trends in terms of employment growth and continues to attract inward investors of the highest quality.
Stirling Council : Stirling Council's area lies at the very heart of Scotland. It covers 220,000 hectares from Tyndrum and Crianlarich in the southern highlands to the villages of Killearn and Strathblane in the south west and the former mining villages of Plean, Fallin and Cowie in the east. The 83,000 population splits 50:50 urbal to rural, with the urban population centering around Stirling, Dunblane and Bridge of Allan. West Dunbartonshire Council : West Dunbartonshire, covering an area of 70 square miles, serves a population of almost 100,000 people. The area offers something for every visitor, whether you prefer the tranquillity of Loch Lomond and historic towns or the bustle of modern shopping centres and abundance of leisure facilities. There is always plenty to keep you busy in the three main towns: Clydebank, Dumbarton and Alexandria.
West Lothian Council : West Lothian is regarded as one of the most dynamic and forward-thinking councils in Britain. We are leading the way in many aspects of the Government's modernising agenda, and are now delivering a range of ground-breaking initiatives designed to take the area and its citizens into the 21st Century.

Commission For Racial Equality : The Commission for Racial Equality is a publicly funded, non-governmental body set up under the Race Relations Act 1976 to tackle racial discrimination and promote racial equality.
Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign : Actively campaigns to inform the public and government of Scotland of the reality of Palestinian life under Israeli rule in the Palestinian occupied territories, and of the human rights violations going on there.
Scottish Low Pay Unit : The Scottish Low Pay Unit believe that paid work can be a vital route out of poverty for Scottish people, but only when Scottish workers have access to secure jobs with decent pay and conditions. This site describes how the Unit uses research, training, advice and campaign work to assist low paid workers.
Scottish Poverty Information Unit : The Scottish Poverty Information Unit believes that poverty is caused by the unequal distribution of opportunities and resources rather than the lack of resources in society. SPIU aims to assist those committed to eradicating poverty in Scotland through robust policy analysis, quality research and widespread dissemination of poverty information. SPIU seeks to work in partnership with others towards the goal of reducing poverty and extending social justice in 21st Century Scotland.

Engender : ENGENDER is an information, research and networking organisation for women in Scotland, working with other groups locally and internationally to improve women's lives and increase their power and influence. The organisation campaigns to ensure that women and their concerns have greater visibility and equal representation at all levels of Scottish society.
