“The union helped me when I was faced with disciplinary action over alleged gross misconduct – an apparent misuse of a computer. I got representation, a fair hearing and the allegation was dropped.”

“The voluntary sector is no different from any other work sector when it comes to the need for active trade unionism: issues such as job insecurity, pay can only be effectively addressed through collective organisation. We need to join and belong to active, independent and democratic trade unions. That is why I joined.”

“My employer had promised me parity with local authority workers who are doing exactly the same job as me. I was supposed to get the same basic wage and wage increase and increment each year. I did not get it. My employer said that it did not have the money in grants from the Council and the Scottish Exec. I want to campaign for fairer funding. That is why I joined the union.”
